Cecil is a singer-songwriter from Berkshire who began to sing aged 5. Taking her name from her Great Uncle Cecil McGivern who was a pioneering producer for British Radio and Television in the 1940s and 1950s. He wrote the screenplay for Charles Dickens famous novel “Great Expectations” for which he was nominated for an Oscar.The inspiration from her Uncles writing coupled with her musical background led Cecil into writing songs at the piano which rapidly grew into captivating live performances.

Cecil kicked off 2018 with a bang by receiving a nomination for Best Solo Female Act at the U.M.A’s following on from the success of her single “Queen Of The Cruel” which was supported by BBC Music Introducing and BBC 6 Music. 2018 will see her warm-up for the legendary Grace Jones and also for another legendary figure in the shape of Jools Holland.

With her style being compared to the likes of Kate Bush & Lana Del Rey, Cecil is definitely an artist you won’t want to miss the opportunity to see perform.
