Calling all Cornish songwriters and bands

The annual search for the Cornish song that will represent the county at the 2016 Pan Celtic Festival, Ireland has begun and we’re delighted to be sponsoring the hunt.

For a chance to be there next year, all you have to do is enter one song into the Kan Rag Kernow competition. All songs must be newly composed, written and performed in Cornish, but of any genre. As always, the Cornish language Partnership, Maga is on hand if you need help to translate your song into Cornish.

Shortlisted entries to the Kan Rag Kernow competition compete against one another at a live concert in Cornwall every year, where a panel of judges decides which song will go on to represent Cornwall in Ireland.

The competition offers a great way to get your song heard on an international stage. Last year Looe-based folk band The Changing Room scored a hat trick for Cornwall winning three prizes at the international event.

With the closing date on the 11th December you’ve not got long to get your entry submitted.

Application pack available from the Cornish Language Partnership.

Good Luck!
