LOOE MUSIC FESTIVAL CHARITABLE STATUS
The Looe Music Festival Charitable Trust (LMF) was set-up in 2010 to develop cultural tourism in south east Cornwall. The charity is concerned with the development of cultural assets for the whole of Cornwall, and aims to establish itself as a core delivery partner in future arts and cultural projects across the Duchy.
- To be instrumental in re-vitalizing and re-positioning Cornwall’s unique cultural identity within music, dance and language on an international scale through showcases, festivals, talent development, and international touring.
- To facilitate ambitious, innovative and simple ways of accessing, experiencing and participating in Cornish cultural activities regardless of geographic boundaries.
- To produce world-class products and events that will inspire and engage a local, national and global audience.
- To become a home of Cultural Tourism expertise for Cornwall and an example of best practice; creating quality facilities, events, products and jobs that will ultimately deliver economic benefit for our region.
An annual 3-day not-for-profit ticketed live music event also known as Looe Music Festival is the Charity’s largest outcome. The event takes place in the rural, coastal community of Looe, Cornwall over one weekend in September. The event is staged in temporary venues throughout the town and at the beach.
As citizens we are being proactive and entrepreneurial to help stimulate our local economy. The purpose of the event is to bring people into Looe in the ‘shoulder months’ at the end of the summer season, when the town would otherwise be low on tourist numbers and to raise awareness of Looe as a holiday destination. To expose our local community to world-class musicianship, and to work together as a community to tackle problems.
