Falling in Love with Looe – Looe Music Festival 2016
Once again, LMF weaved its magic this year – hypnotising visitors with world-class music, a spellbinding atmosphere and its stunning location.
The Cornish coast was awash with music as sounds weaved from the beach through the picturesque fishing port, onto the street corners and into the pubs. Revelers enjoyed the stellar line-up and the unexpected magical moments.
Kicking off on Friday, Ferocious Dog stormed the beach with followers old and new. Saturday highlights included Seth Lakeman, Sham 69 and Bryan Ferry. Festival-goers were even treated to a unique performance from The Normals on a moving picnic bench.
Showcasing the very best emerging talent from the south west, the BBC Music Introducing Stage delivered a captivating line-up. Partnered with BBC Music, the highlights have been showcased as part of BBC Music’s Summer of Festivals coverage.
Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Funk and Soul DJ Craig Charles closed the two main festival venues with electric sets at either end of town, before a firework finale at the beach.
Even the performers noticed there was something a little bit different about Looe Music Festival.
“The bubble of excitement as you come into Looe is just amazing. It fills you with a need to get it right, we’re going to on there [stage] and soak in everything that’s happening it’s so very exciting. It’s a sort of spiritual thing here isn’t it?” said Anita Harris who brought a packed crowd to tears with her mesmerising performance.
Alabama 3 added: “It’s such a beautiful thing to be playing at a festival when the sun is coming down over the sea, it’s a magic moment.”
Bringing the summer to a spectacular end, Looe enchanted thousands of festivalgoers.
