Gold again for Looe Music Festival at the Cornwall Tourism Awards

Looe Music Festival was crowned gold winner for the second year running at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2017.

LMF was commended for its outstanding contribution to cultural tourism in the Tourism Event / Festival of the Year category, at the gala dinner hosted on Thursday 2nd November.

The 3-day annual music event held in September has delivered approximately £22.2m of economic benefit to the south east Cornwall area during the past four years. Encouraging visitors to take time off in Looe and revisit throughout the year.

Tanya Brittain, Event Director and Chair Trustee, says: “Cornwall tourism is at the heart of what we do and to be recognised for the second year running for our contribution is very special. As well as the music festival, in 2017 we delivered many projects to support and promote Cornwall’s cultural identity. Being a gold winner, amongst so many other outstanding businesses, has finished the year off spectacularly.”

Hosting world renowned headliners such as Jools Holland, Happy Mondays, Bryan Ferry, Lulu, Johnny Marr, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Fun Lovin’ Criminals the festival also welcomes international artists and local upcoming talent to the bill. Planning for Looe’s eighth annual music festival is already underway and will take place on the 21st – 23rd September 2018.

“We’ve been blown away by the response of festivalgoers grabbing their tickets early for next year and to celebrate our win we’ve decided to release another batch of early bird tickets for the 2018 event,” adds Tanya.

The Cornwall Tourism Awards celebrates the very best the region has to offer in all areas of the tourism sector with winners being presented their accolade by fellow gold winner, Olympian Helen Glover.
