LMF championed by BBC Radio Cornwall under BBC Music initiative
LMF has gained the recognition of BBC Music as the only festival in Cornwall to be supported by the BBC’s UK festival experience, as nominated by BBC Radio Cornwall and regional champion of BBC Introducing, David White.
The initiative aims to create a one-stop shop for the festival experience this summer. Running from April until September each local BBC radio station has championed one event in their region under the umbrella of BBC Music. Coverage will be collated into a digital collection on the BBC Music website alongside coverage of Glastonbury and Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
“We are overwhelmingly delighted to be the chosen festival to sit as part of BBC coverage of the UK’s leading festivals this summer. It’s a privilege to be associated with BBC Music, who like us, are passionate about supporting new music and emerging talent,” says Tanya Brittain, Looe Music Festival Event Director.
Last year, BBC Music Introducing Cornwall showcased local talent at Looe Music Festival for the first time. With emerging bands such as The Changing Room, Backbeat SoundSystem, Stone Roots, Sound of the Sirens, Wille and the Bandits and The Red Cords performing.
David White, BBC Radio Cornwall presenter says, “We’re thrilled that Looe Music Festival has agreed to partner us under the BBC Music scheme this year. As one of Cornwall’s biggest festivals it’s a great place to showcase some of our brilliant BBC Music Introducing acts and give them a platform to a bigger, more diverse audience. We can’t wait to be there!”
The BBC stage will showcase the very best of the regions emerging talent at the festival again this year, capturing and sharing outstanding performances via the BBC network.
