New Look Looe Music Festival Ready to Rock
Looe Music Festival is taking to the stage for the fourth year in a row, sporting a fresh new look and promising a weekend of top music and eclectic entertainment that is even bigger and better than 2013.
One of the best late summer festivals, Looe Music Festival will be in the spotlight from Friday 19th – Sunday 21st September 2014. It promises high energy, back-to-back beats on the beach and the chance to discover new musical acts whilst exploring the picturesque fishing port of Looe in south east Cornwall.
This year the festival has a new-look logo and colour-scheme featuring fresh blues and bright yellows that clearly communicate the beautiful beachside location. The event’s ever-evolving visual identity changes every year to add a new lease of life into the branding and to represent the diverse mix of music on offer.
This year’s main headliners will be announced shortly, but last year’s line-up saw the likes of The Darkness, Reef, The Damned, and Seth Lakeman perform on the main stage. Over 90 bands are already signed to appear in 2014, with a whole host of household names, emerging talent and wildly wonderful acts set to grace the stage.
To keep it real on the Friday, singer-songwriter and filmmaker Cosmo Jarvis will be performing a set on the main stage. Born in New Jersey, he moved to Devon as a child and released his self-titled debut album aged nineteen. His clever, articulate lyrics and honest, humorous take on real-life issues has earned him critical acclaim.
Cosmo Jarvis will be supporting pioneers of the London Acid Jazz scene and main stage headliners, The Brand New Heavies. A British music institution whose unique mix of jazz, funk and soul has lit up the UK music scene for well over two decades, The Brand New Heavies have been responsible for some of the UK’s biggest R & B/soul tracks, scoring 16 top 40 singles including ‘Dream On Dreamer’ and ‘You’ve Got A Friend’, as well as over two million album sales.
On Saturday, London-based band Tankus the Henge will be creating drama with their ‘apocalyptic carnival’ inspired brand of music. Named as one of 2011’s ‘Top Acts to See’ at Glastonbury, they draw influences from many sources, including rock ‘n roll, gypsy music, ragtime and ska. Also playing on the Saturday is world superbike champion and professional singer-songwriter and pianist James Toseland. After parting with his band Crash, the husband of famous jazz singer Katie Melua is now embarking on his own solo career, in a quintet known as ‘Toseland’. The band’s debut single: ‘Life is Beautiful’ premiered online in April 2013 and they played a well-received acoustic set at last year’s Download festival.
The internationally famous Red Hot Chilli Pipers will introduce the festival crowd to ‘bagrock’. The band explains, “Bagpipes with attitude. Drums with a Scottish accent. A blazing rock band and a show so hot it carries its own health warning.” The Red Hot Chilli Pipers have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing with musicianship of the highest order and a passion for pipes that will leave you breathless. To top off a truly international line-up this year, Hillbilly AC/DC tribute legends Hayseed Dixie will be flying in from America to add a ‘rockgrass’ finale at the harbour.
Event Director & Trustee Tanya Brittain said: “Looe Music Festival is thrilled to be back for another year and 2014 is set to be even bigger and better than ever. The new logo and strip totally encompasses our amazing beach and harbour-side stages and unique location. Where else can you soak up the atmosphere of a three-day music festival set in the heart of a Cornish seaside town? We’re excited about revealing the final acts over the next few weeks. Grab your tickets quick though – once they’re gone, they’re gone!”
Full price 3-day tickets for 2014 are £67.50 for adults, £18.50 for under 18’s and under 5’s go free. For more information, see www.looemusic.co.uk, follow @Looemusicfest or find us on www.facebook.com/looemusic.
