Walking miracle Wilko Johnson is back and on the beach for LMF16

Wilko Johnson is set to duck-walk his way to Cornwall as Looe Music Festival’s Friday night headliner.

‘I’m supposed to be dead!’ Wilko was heading to Looe in 2013 but along the way was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Then, a miracle happened. “Man, there’s nothing like being told you’re dying to make you feel alive.”

Despite his diagnosis Wilko continued to make music. His chart topping 2014 album ‘Going Back Home’ was produced in the space of a week with none other than Roger Daltrey.

Following a sensational physical and musical recovery, Wilko is back on the live scene and ready to rock. His rootsy sound, coupled with that black-suited, scowling look, Wilko is one of Britain’s guitar heroes.

One of the best late summer festivals, Looe Music Festival promises high energy, back-to-back beats on the beach and the chance to discover new musical acts whilst exploring the picturesque fishing port of Looe in South East Cornwall.

Beginning his career in Dr. Feelgood, a mainstay of the 1970’s pub rock movement. A stint with Ian Dury & The Blockheads followed in the 80′s before forming his own group – The Wilko Johnson Band. In recent years you’ll recognise him as Ilyn Payne the mute executioner in Game of Thrones.

The weekend 23rd -25th September will see 90 bands hit 5 stages and over 9,000 visitors per day are expected to soak up the sounds and atmosphere at Looe Music Festival 2016.

Also heading to Cornwall are US legends, Fun Lovin’ Criminals who will close the festival on Sunday 25th September 2016.
