We won! Best Music Event 2016
We were named Best Live Music Event at the annual What’s on Cornwall Awards or – WOCAs as they were well known.
The WOCAs celebrates the arts and leisure industry in Cornwall and is voted for by the public.
Presented to us by David Thomas, West Briton Editor, our not-for-profit event was recognised for its three-day music festival, which takes place in the picturesque fishing port of Looe. Noted for bringing the big names to the beach with a previous catalogue including, Jools Holland, Johnny Marr, The Proclaimers, Bad Manners, The Darkness and Frank Turner, 2016 will be no different with headliners Bryan Ferry, Wilko Johnson and Fun Lovin’ Criminals already announced.
Event Director and Charity Trustee, Tanya Brittain, said: “The award comes as we’re just 4 months away from our 6th annual festival. Receiving an award that’s voted for by the public is always special as it’s recognition from those who come and enjoy the weekend.
“Our festival is unique. Fabulous performers, our local community and Looe’s vibrant maritime culture come together to create one magical musical weekend in a stunning location.”
Looe Music Festival celebrates Cornish culture and heritage, as part of its live music programme and the charity is half way through a ten-year plan to help revitalise Looe through cultural tourism and the participation in the arts.
A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us!
